Good Morning!
We encourage all Hopi citizens to remind their family and friends to cast a "NO" vote today. Many groups have put aside differences because we feel so strongly that this draft 24A will do more harm that good to our people. KUYI has aired information on voting “yes” or “no” to the draft. They will air segments in the morning (Thursday) at 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, mid day and at the close of the polls. You can access the news show at 88.1 or online at www.KUYI.net
As many are aware, the Federal Court Judge relied on the Tribal Court Judge to issue a ruling to stop or proceed with the election. Judge Flores, as anticipated, ruled in favor of the defendants and allowed the election to proceed. We were not surprised for a couple reasons. We know that attorney Robert Lyttle and Judge Flores have had a working relationship in a previous case. (Read more in News)

Further, we are aware that approximately two weeks ago, Judge Flores was issued "a retainment" on top of his normal salary. We can coin Judge Flores opinion as the $5,000 decision.
We also know that Lyttle, who did work for Carol Brown and the Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan were reprimanded for double billing the tribe out of thousands of dollars. Link to article
Currently, Lyttle is receiving undocumented payments via wire transfers from OUR own Hopi Tribe. We know that Lyttle and Shingoitewa’s staff received ipads without going through the proper red tape that the rest of the tribal employees must abide by. Such financial mismanagement only gives us more reason to believe why the administration is on an all out witch hunt to keep Russell Mockta out of the financial business.
Questions about the actual election process have been raised since the inception of the election. Here is a flyer put out by our partners in this referendum challenge. The flyer encourages Hopi people who didn’t get their absentee ballot or name on the list, to submit formal challenges to the Hopi Secretarial Election Board. We encourage you to also notify our groups of your challenge as well. You may send a copy of your challenge to the email addresses provided on the flyer or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
In the end, our message has always been to educate yourself, become informed and make a choice. After all that has been said over the past six months, the only logical choice is to vote NO!
This site provides Hopi voters and friends information regarding the scheduled Secretarial Referendum Election on a New Hopi Constitution, which we believe to be a direct threat to our traditional way of life. We believe the process by which this document and election were produced was illegal, and the proposed Constitution is a direct threat to our traditional way of life.
A mere one day before the Proposed Hopi Constitution registration deadline, on Dec. 28th, the Hopi Tribe's Press Officer informed the public about the deadline to register to vote! In the press release, it states that "misinformation" is being disseminated" about draft 24A. It is our contention that the only "misinformation", or in many instances LACK OF INFORMATION, has been from Tribally Funded entities.
PLEASE BROWSE THIS SITE TO LEARN WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO VOTE NO ON JANUARY 27!
-Hopi People of the Silent Majority
Time is running out; in addition to a "NO" vote, please email the Secretary of Interior and ask him to HALT the proposed Constitution and uphold the RIGHTS of the Hopi people. All it may take to save the Hopi and possibly save ourselves from destruction is ONE VOICE!
